Surveys says city is the chosen one for its comforts and IT industryPune has emerged as a hot favorite among job-seekers from across the nation. And topping the list of people who want to work and settle in the city are Mumbaikars.
A recent survey by SaonGroup, which runs city specific job portals, of 5,000 people conducted on myJobsinPune.com, revealed that along with smaller towns like Nagpur, Aurangabad, Solapur, people from Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad are now selecting Pune over their home cities for jobs.
Almost half (45%) of the job searches done on myJobsinPune.com during March and April were from candidates based outside Pune, said Saurabh Shroff, head marketing SaonGroup.
According to the survey, among the outsiders wishing to shift to Pune, 21 per cent were from Mumbai. Seven per cent from Navi Mumbai and four per cent from Nagpur.
Pune is also a sought-after destination for candidates from New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
Several reasons have contributed to this shift towards Pune in the job sector, said Shroff.
The foremost being the easy and comfortable lifestyle when compared to Mumbai and New Delhi. Moreover, Pune offers ample opportunities with the entry of big multinationals, said Shroff.
Other reasons for this gradual shift ranges from lower rates of real estate and better job opportunities in the it SECTOR WHEN COMPARED TO Mumbai.
Many clients have told us that while Mumbai has more jobs in IT enabled services, Pune has jobs for core IT professionals, he said.
While IT still rules the roost, the survey findings also revealed that newer sectors like manufacturing and real estate too draws a good response with 16 per cent.
While Pune has emerged as strong IT destination in the last few years, its traditional strength has been manufacturing and this is reflected in the job searches on portal, said Shroff.
The presence of bigger companies like Volkswagon and General Motors to pane is expected to boost the recruitment activities. The other top sectors preferred by job seekers are sales and business development, accounting, tax, company secretary and audit.
